I'm a 20 year old female, was just diagnosed hypothyroid. But I also have galactorrhea, anxiety/depression, and two periods a month. I'm not on birth control, I take cymbalta and armour thyroid. My prolactin levels show up normal. Is all of this caused by hypothyroidism? Could it be more of a pituitary problem?

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and i understand your concern. Hypothyroidism is correlated with these conditions. Pituitary conditions may also give this response as pituitary tries to compensate for this reduced thyroid hormone and end up causing increase of others. Seek an endocrinologist and let them help.

I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
