Hello. I missed one pill. I took two pills the next day at regular time (th one from the day before and the one from that day). However now I have had bleeding and cramps starting the day after I missed my pill and continuing the next day even though I have been taking the pills. Will I have my period for the full seven days now? Will I have it again according to my cycle? Am I still protected?

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
The protection will not be affected if you have followed the missed-pill-protocol. Since you are having withdrawal bleeding/breakthrough bleeding, your actual periods/withdrawal bleeding at end of pill pack use might be altered or reduced. Continue to take your birth control pills at scheduled time daily and avoid missing any further active pills. Wait and watch for your withdrawal bleeding/periods. If periods do not start within 10 days of expected period dates, or if you get abnormal periods, or if you suspect chances of pregnancy, consider visiting your doctor/gynecologist at the earliest for thorough examination (to confirm pregnancy related changes/signs in body) and blood/serum HCG level test (to confirm/rule out pregnancy accurately). Be in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately. Take adequate rest. Drink plenty of water. Maintain healthy diet.
Take care.

Thank you for your response.
I have had, what I believe to be my period for five days now. I still have five pills (not counting today) left before my planned period should start. Is this normal? Should I expect this period to last the duration of a week or until the end of my planned period?
