Hello,
For about a year now my body has not been releasing all of my blood during my cycle. My OB/GYN confirmed through a sonogram that there is indeed blood left in me after my cycle is over. My Dr. put me on birth control, which did not help. I do not have children and cannot due to my husbands health conditions, so I do not want to be on birth control due to the side affects.

Menstruation Answer A64788
Hello.
Welcome to this forum.
First of all, there is no higher-normal or lower-normal limit of blood flow and this varies from women to women and even cycle to cycle. Secondly, by doing a scan it is not possible to opine regarding stored up blood inside, if it is not a blood-filled ovarian cyst. Birth control pills can reduce the amount of bleeding per cycle and yes, that is beneficial often. Time to check whether you are grossly obese or hypothyroid or stressed enough which can be the additional reasons for scanty cycle. So,think about them and proceed accordingly.
Hope I can address your query. Please visit your doctor if there is any further confusion as without a clinical examination it is not possible to opine through an online medical forum.
