When I'm counting months with no period for purposes of determining if I'm in menopause, does spotting count as a period? I haven't had a period since early March, but this week I have light spotting. Do I have to go back to zero and count up to 12 months again?

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and i understand your concern. This spotting is part of perimenopause and yes it can be considered and counted again from here for the next 12 months. However, it's variable and will depend on your hormones . Consult your gynecologist and let them decide what is best for you.

I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
