Lung and bone cancer

User Profile
Dear all. My father has a lung cancer along with a bone cancer. Doctors are found that lung cancer is primary and bone cancer is a secondary one. I\\\'m writting to ask you is it common to develop the diabetes along with a cancer รข adenocarciom? Is it possible to control the diabetes during the chemotherapy and radiation. My father has finished two sets of chemotherapy, year ago and six months ago, and his blood is still weak. He is now taking insuline but blood sugar is still high (sometimes even 17 or 20). His doctor recomens the radiation to treat the bone cancer, who has rapidly developed recently. I would like to ask you for advice. How to treat his diabetes during the radiation therapy? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for using this forum...

For secondaries radiation is the only option which is good and as for the diabetes status the insulin dosages can be adjusted to correct it..But long spells of chemotherapy and cancer itself may be producing diabetes in which chemo or radiation sometimes helps in controlling diabetes by killing those cells...Diabetes develops due to anti insulin or sugar producing cells by the cancer...

take care...
