lower abdomen pain throughout day.

i have regular periods and last 7 days first 3 are usually heavy and gradually decreases until 7th day.
this time i had 1 day of heavy priod and 1 of spotty and been having cramps 1 week before and the week of period.
on the 7th day(today) all i had was little brown discharge but still experiencing lower abdomen pain regularly throughout the day. being the last day of period i thought i would do a pregnancy test which is negative.
i had intercourse before the 20th last month and nothing after that
whatcould this cramping be and why do i have such little priod for the first time?

If you have such light periods then the first thing to be ruled out is pregnancy if there is a suggestive history, like you did. A blood pregnancy test would be more confirmatory. Other than that scanty periods can be due to hypothyroidism and PCOD. Emotional stress and prolonged illness can be a cause too but unlikely in your case. It can also be due to pelvic inflammatory disease, infection (fungal or otherwise) and STD.

Since a confirmed diagnosis cannot be given on net please discuss these possibilities with your gynecologist once. Hope this helps. Take care!
