Second Trimester of Pregnancy Answer A17959
Hi,
Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am glad to help you out. Low amniotic fluid or oligohydramnios can cause fetal abnormalities of the lungs and limbs, poor fetal growth, and increases the risk of miscarriage, preterm birth and stillbirth.

The thinning of cervix and effacement can be predicted by pelvic examination by the doctor in last few weeks of pregnancy.

I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
