Long term effects of acl reconstruction surgery

User Profile
What are the long term effects of a torn ACL?
Rupture of the knee's ACL is a common sports-related injury. It is associated with other knee problems, such as meniscal tears and knee instability. Over the long term, it can lead to knee osteoarthritis. This is an outpatient procedure. While the operation only takes one to one and a half hours, between checking in and the anesthesia and the recovery time, plan on spending three to four hours at the Surgery Center.
