Lo loestrin mirena anxiety attack

I am 36 years old and had my mirena removed 2 weeks ago. I started lo loestrin the day it was removed. A week after removal I had a severe anxiety attack while driving. My hands went numb my mind was racing. My heart rate was 131 while at rest. I pulled over and went in a local store for help I thought I was dying! My husband came and took me to urgent care. They said my potassium was low but thought my symptoms sounded like anxiety because it was coming in waves. 2 weeks later I’m having more bad days. Than good days. I don’t want to drive, go to the gym, be alone Etc. I’m even afraid to sit at my desk sometimes thinking i might pass out and no one would know. I have never had any issues with depression or anxiety before. I have no idea if it’s the mirena removal or starting the lo loestrin that could be causing it. I feel like I’m losing my mind. I just want my life back. I am hypersensitive of my breathing suddenly and convince myself that I can’t breathe or am going to pass out. I can’t sleep. I’m worried about everything. I’m exhausted and scared.

The easiest way to figure out if it is the Lo Loestrin is to just stop it for a week or two. You will quickly realize if that was indeed the cause. It can very well be the Lo Loestrin.

And make another appointment with your doctor to get a different pill with different hormones.

Of course that will mean that you will have to use condoms or non-penetrative sex until you have figured it out, but your mental and emotional health is more important at this stage.

Best of luck!
