like a black hole of emotion. curious about add and adhd

Alright so im 19 years old and all my life I haven't ever done anything. I pretty sure I have add or adhd and I did go to a local doctor and he said that he was pretty sure i had it but i never followed through with the tests because i didn't feel like going. I don't think of myself ever achieving anything really big. I have wild dreams and everything but when i get the chance to get going with life i deflect it and avoid it because im afraid of doing anything that involves social interaction. I know i have horrible social anxiety that's a givin im shy and try to keep to myself. But my actual question is can i have add or adhd without the mood issues? I stay calm no matter what it is that is said to me. Im like a black hole of emotion. I do get bursts of rage when someone picks on me but i know better to snap off and i don't defend myself ever i just take a insult and agree or use a self depreciating joke. What do you think?

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and I understand your concern.
Before I answer your query I would like to ask you to do the tests advised by your doctor and follow up with him. If you know you have a condition why not treat it?
Now coming to your question yes add could or could not be related to mood swings. I would like you to see a psychiatrist and discuss all these symptoms you’re experiencing in detail so he can help you out.
I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
Take care
Dr Khalil
