Late period and dark spotting with cramping

User Profile
I had some mild spotting about a week and a half ago. My breasts have been very tender and very full. I have had several food cravings which I just associated with my period. My fiancé and I have been trying to get pregnant for the last year with no luck so at this point I try not to get my hopes up. We were going to by a pregnancy test today (Friday) as I am now about a week late but this morning I wiped once, had white discharge, wiped again and there was a light red blood. So far the "spotting" has went from a light red to a very dark red with some mild cramping. What could this be? I\'m so afraid of getting my hopes up thinking we might actually be pregnant for this to happen.

Hello.
Welcome to this forum.
Are you having irregular periods? Then it could be that. For having successful pregnancy, the basic prerequisite is a regular cycle. So, if you don't have it,you have to achieve it.But do a pregnancy testing now as nobody can predict about the possibility of a positive pregnancy outcome.
Hope I can address your query. Please visit your doctor if there is any further confusion as without a clinical examination it is not possible to opine through an online medical forum.
