Over the past two weeks I've had a rather large growth right above my knee. It's not warm to the touch, but is very tender and sore. I don't think it's a cyst, as I've had one in the past and it was never sore to the touch. Any idea what this might be, and should a doctor be seen?

The growth is very hard and about the size of a silver dollar.
