lack of libido, hormonal imbalance, excessive hair

Hello Doctor,
My girlfriend (Age : 17) seems to be showing some symptoms but the doctors here (Bangladesh) have not been very successful at giving some solutions. We are not much aware of what to do, or what type of doctor to consult. We are posting the symptoms here with hopes of some answers or advice.

She has Poly Cystic Ovaries (PCO), tumours in her ovaries, and a hormonal imbalance.
The doctors say it can only be treated symptom based.
She also had mild aphasia 3 times, the last being in 2011.
She has pain and swelling in lower abdomen, lack of libido, hormonal imbalance, irregular periods, excessive body hair, acne (since infancy), and hair fall.
She has a lack of appetite, is overweight, and vomits occasionally.
She also complains about headaches, and nausea, and sometimes faints.

Would really appreciate your help.
Really worried as some of the symptoms persist, and some come up every now and then without warning and haven't found any answers here.

Sincerely,
Ratul

Hi,

Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am really glad to help you out.

The symptoms are suggestive of polycystic ovarian disease (PCOS) or due to multifollicular ovary. To differentiate it from PCOS, she can get tests like 2 hr GTT,serum androgen and testosterone levels,LH-FSH ratio, prolactin levels,TSH levels,17-hydroxyprogesterone levels and 3D ultrasound.

If diagnosis of PCOS is confirmed then treatment should be planned.

Primary treatment is by Metformin and contraceptive pills or progesterone pills. It can also be treated surgically and this procedure is known as drilling. Losing weight in eating light and physical exercises also helps.
I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and regards.
