I have an itchy scab looking rash on my thumb, I thought it was a scratch but I think it's spreading, I pit cortisone cream on it. What is it? And how do I treat it?

Hi,
Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am glad to help you out. Scabies can be an important possibility if the rash is intensely itchy. It is characterized by intense itching, usually at night and by small insect-type bites lesions on the skin. Diagnosis of scabies is made by scraping the skin and viewing the material under a microscope to see the characteristic mite or eggs.

My sincere advice is to get it evaluated from a dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
