it due to missing my period on purpose?

User Profile
Hi. I'm on a 28 day birth control, and I skipped my placebo pills because I'm going on vacation soon and didn't want to bother packing all the products that go along with getting your period. And now I'm getting light brown vaginal discharge, just really spotting. Is this something I need to worry about? Or is it due to missing my period on purpose?

Welcome to ehealthforum.
Having spotting after continuing with hormonal birth control pills by skipping the placebo pills is common. It is due to breakthrough bleeding caused by hormonal imbalance. You should get your usual periods when you come to the placebo pills in the current pack. Start with next pack on time as instructed. If you want to skip periods anytime, consider visiting your gynecologist to get prescription for alternate pills to postpone periods for as long as you want to avoid such mishaps.
Take care.
