Is it possible to get pregnant on your first time having sex?

User Profile
I lost my virginity last month, and I got really scared about being pregnant(I'm not any more.) But my friend told me it's not as likely to get pregnant when it's your first time, is that true? Dumb question I know. Ha.

Hi, and thanks for your query on eHealth forum!

You can become pregnant even the first time you have sex, especially if you had sex close to your ovulation date. So if you had normal periods after you you’re your virginity, in all probability you are not pregnant.

However, if you plan to be sexually active, please consult your gynecologist and start a contraceptive method of your choice. Hope this helps. Take care!
