Hello I have a question regarding the Implanon, I had it inserted May of 09 and it stoped my period almost instantly, Well March of this year my periods came back very heavy and irregular until about April after I got married, it is now july and my period is over due and my husband and I have been having unprotected sex regularly, I have also been very bloated and tired and noticed my nipples to be larger and sore, I took a home test about 2 weeks ago and it came back negative but do not have insurance to go in and get a blood test done. I guess I am just wandering if it is possible to become pregnant on Implanon or what I should do about this because my rod is not due out until may of next year? and answers would be very helpful, thank you

Welcome to ehealthforum,
It is not uncommon to find women getting pregnant while they are on hormonal birth control your symptoms (delayed periods, bloating, larger and sore nipples) could be suggestive of pregnancy. The urine pregnancy test (UPT) kits are calibrated ones, so unless the hormone levels in urine reach a certain level, they do not show positive results. They can also show false negative results. Blood/serum HCG level estimation is accurate. UPT should always be done on early morning first urine sample as the concentration of pregnancy hormone HCG is believed to be highest in this sample. You can also consider repeating UPT after about 7-10 days to see if turns positive. Look out for development of any other new symptoms suggestive of early pregnancy. Do not delay in visiting your doctor/gynecologist at the earliest for further examination (to confirm pregnancy related changes/signs in body) and blood/serum HCG level test (to confirm/rule out pregnancy accurately). Take adequate rest. Drink plenty of water. Maintain healthy diet. If pregnancy gets confirmed, the Implanon should be removed immediately.
Take care.
