Is ginsenoside really work to improve immunity?

User Profile
Ginsenoside is a steroid compound and triterpenoid saponin, which is considered as the active component in Ginsengs. Since ginsenoside affects multiple metabolic pathways in human bodies, their effectiveness is complex.

There are more than 40 kinds of ginsenosides in Ginsengs. They have similar basic structures, all of which contain steroid nuclei arranged in four rings by 30 carbon atoms. And they can be divided into two groups, the damalane type, and the oleanolic type, according to the structure of glycosides.

Different ginsenosides have different effects:

Rh2 has the effect of inhibiting the metastasis of cancer cells to other organs and enhancing body immunity. Its absorption rate in the human body is 16% and its highest content is 16.2 %.

Rg has the function of stimulating the central nervous system, anti-fatigue, improving memory and learning ability, and promoting DNA and RNA synthesis.

Rg1 has the function of quickly relieving fatigue, improving memory and learning ability, anti-aging, stimulating the central nervous system and inhibiting platelet agglutination.

Rg2 has an anti-shock effect. It can rapidly improve myocardial ischemia and hypoxia, so it can be used to treat and prevent coronary heart disease.

Rg3 can inhibit the synthesis of pre-mitotic proteins and ATP in cancer cells during g 2 phase of the cell cycle, which slows down the proliferation and growth of cancer cells, it also has the functions of inhibiting tumor cell infiltration, anti-tumor cell metastasis, promoting tumor cell apoptosis and inhibiting tumor cell growth. Rg3 can be metabolized into Rh2 by removing a sugar molecule from the gut bacteria in the body.

Rb1 has the highest concentration in the American ginseng. It has the potential to affect the testicles of animals, enhances the function of the cholinergic system, increases the synthesis and release of Acetylcholine and improves memory.

Rb2 has the function of promoting the synthesis of DNA and RNA, inhibiting the central nerve, reducing intracellular calcium, anti-oxidant, scavenging free radicals and improving myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury.

Rb3 enhances the function of the heart muscle and protects the body's own immune system. It can be used to treat the contractile failure of the heart caused by various causes.

Rh has the function of inhibiting central nervous system, hypnotic effect, relieving pain, and promoting serum protein synthesis.

Rh1 can promote the proliferation of hepatocytes and promote the synthesis of DNA. It can be used to treat and prevent hepatitis and cirrhosis.

Ro has the function of anti-inflammatory, detoxification, anti-thrombosis, inhibition of platelet coagulation in the acid system and activation of macrophages in anti-hepatitis.
