I mostly have this urge to clear my throat for a long time now, I used to smoke before but for 3 months I have stopped but when It comes to clear my throat I cannot cough out anything it just that there is no mucus nothing but still a slight pain when the irritation starts and I cannot stop it until and unless I drink a lot of water but it starts again over and over. doctor

Hello and welcome to EHF !

I went through your query and i believe this feeling of something stuck in throat needs to be evaluated. With history of smoking it could be local infections on inflammations like laryngitis et cetera. Another common cause for something stuck in throat is Acid Reflux and needs to be looked at. Go to your local physician and let them have a look.
