Inflamed Ovaries in 12 yr old

My 12 year old daughter was just told she has inflamed ovaries. The doctor said he was concerned since she has not begun her menstrual cycle. What would you suggest is going on. Her symptoms have been abdominal pain, loss of appetite and increased amount of bodily gas. Two doctors in the last 24 hours were 100% sure it was appendicitis and were prepping and preparing us for surgery. Then the blood, urine and CTScans all came back normal. However, it was the CTScan that revealed her inflamed ovaries. We were told to come back to the doctors tomorrow for additional testing. What could be going on with her?

thank you for asking
inflamed ovaries in preadolescent children are very rare and a detailed work up needs to be done to sort out completely what is going on. ovarian cystic conditions will be the top notch priority on list of differentials. lets wait fro tomorrow and see what comes up with a little thorough assessment. hormonal imbalances need to be addressed too if any.abdominal pain and bloating also directs towards a cystic ovaries. need an expert opinion after complete clinical correlation. hope for the best and visit our health center for further guidance.
take care
