im self critical, i cant sleep, im stressed...

please help, for the last 2 and a half years or so i have been feeling down but the last year i have been feeling really down, i cry when im alone, i cry randomly for no apparent reason, im self critical, i cant sleep, im stressed, i take my anger out on my husband by shouting at him and sometimes i have to leave my daughter in a safe place at home and go off for a quiet scream or shout, i feel angry and irritated and the simplest of things can trigger me off. i get breathless and have uncontrolable crying during my crying i feel useless, on edge,guilty and alone in the world. i am having CBT but it doesnt seem to work and i want to try my best to aviod any medication if i can, but plz what else can i do ? and what is wrong with me?

Your symptoms seem to be related to anxiety and depression. Sadness of mood is again a mood fluctuation. Before going for any kind of self medication, it must be recognized that the problems you are having are pathological and need treatment and are not just behavioral fluctuations.

You need to consult a psychotherapist for exact diagnosis.
Some simple measures that can help you include-
1. Practice relaxation exercises like yoga, deep breathing exercises, etc.

2.Do a regular workout or exercise like aerobics.

3. Decrease sugar intake in your diet.

4. Indulge in some interesting hobbies.

5.Listen to music , go to parks or picnics with friends, etc.

These will relax your tension to a large extent and you will find your life interesting. There are some drugs like escitalopram (lexapro), sertraline, etc which can help you in early recovery but these should be taken only after proper consultation with your doctor.
