I like the empty feeling in my stomach!

User Profile
I don't eat very much, I even skip meals. Sometimes just the thought of food makes me sick. When I started to lose weight because of the way I eat it actually made me happy; now I like the empty feeling in my stomach and I don't like how I feel when I eat. Am I in danger of being anorexic?

Hello.

Anorexia involves a fear of gaining weight. This is a prominent feature. In addition, there is a distorted body image, making a person see herself in the mirror and believe that she is overweight, even if she is underweight.

Your current symptoms may indeed raise an alarm. Underneath your 'happiness due to loosing weight' could lie a fear of gaining weight. But I cannot confirm this via the forum here. I suggest you consult a mental health professional (psychiatrist/psychologist/other) personally about this.

Take care.
