I honestly dont know the signs of labor ...

User Profile
This is my second pregnancy and I have become very concerned, about the second week of January 2011 I have been experiencing sever hip pain it hurts to sit and somtimes even walk my doctor told me to go see a chiroprator it did not help. in the last 5 maybe 6 days I have had cramps and severe back pain. I have also felt an odd stinging pressure on my cervix and have experienced slight spotting like you blew your nose to hard. I saw my doctor about a week ago for a check up, NST and an ultrasound she then changed my due date from March 18 to April 18 she told me it was only because the baby measured 3.5lbs she checked me only because I had asked her to because the spotting had me worried she said my cervix was closed, and the NST showed only very minute contractions (braxton hicks). My first child was a c section and I was induced due to fetal distress so I honestly dont know the signs of labor so I'm worried and wondering what could cause all of these problems.

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum.
Your current symptom and NST results suggest uterine activity, which if left unattended can lead premature labour pain and premature delivery. It is important that you discuss with your treating obstetrician about getting started on uterine relaxants to help continue pregnancy smoothly upto term. Consider getting a repeat ultrasound scan within next 2-4 weeks to confirm the expected delivery date and the current gestational age based on growth of baby and your last menstrual period dates. The delivery date can vary if there is wrong dates given or if IUGR (intra uterine growth retardation) is not detected on time.
Continue to maintain good healthy diet, drink plenty of water and fruit juices. Avoid use of spice, oil/fat, used in cooking. Avoid having caffeinated and carbonated beverages.
Take care
