User Profile
Period was 5 days late. Today it came with brown discharge and a little bit of blood. A few hours it stopped. The pad looked like it was stained with a long brown sport

I am a virgin. I haven't had sex before. I haven't gotten fingered. No semen/precum soaked hands have touched my vagina. And a penis has never been near my vagina.

This year I lost 20 pounds. I'm also a bit stressed. Why is my period like this?

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
Sometimes periods can be delayed due to stress, changes in lifestyle, changes in eating habits/diet changes, changes in exercise levels, hormonal changes, etc for 5-10 days which is considered to be normal variation. Brown discharge could also be suggestive of vaginal infections, hormonal derangements etc. The exact cause can only be made out after careful evaluation and further investigations. Visit your doctor/gynecologist at the earliest for further evaluation and assistance. Treatment as appropriate (based on examination and investigation results) would be started to help you. Drink plenty of water. Take adequate rest. Maintain healthy diet and lifestyle. Be in regular follow-up and monitoring of your treating gynecologist/obstetrician and report any unusual/abnormal/new symptoms immediately. Avoid vaginal douching, use of harsh soap or perfumes in the area (vagina has its own mechanism of cleaning itself. Use of these products harms the normal bacteria of vagina and it becomes susceptible to infection). Use loose cotton undergarments and avoid tight fitting clothes (make sure your undergarments are washed properly and have no traces of detergent in them).
Take care.
