hypoglycemia and pregnancy
I am 33 weeks pregnant. I have had hypothyroidism for 21 years. I am 34. I also am anemic. I was ok for a few but then started to feel awful after eating meals. I am a vegetarian and eat very healthy. I cannot eat that much because I feel as if I will burst. Even after eating protein rich foods I get a racing heartbeat that feels as if it is going to beat out of my chest. I also become very weak and exhausted feeling throughout my body. It is difficult to keep myself standing. When I am at work I have to keep going despite feeling like I am going to fall on the floor. And my boyfriend does not understand what I feel like. This has been happening to me after eating most meals. It takes about an hour and a half to recover somewhat. It is exhausting feeling this way every day and throughout the day. Lately I have been getting heartburn on top of it. I keep telling the prenatal nurses and doctors about this and they just say eat small meals and protein. I do but it keeps happening. It is frustrating because at times when I am hungry I am cautious in how much I eat. I don't know if there is something to do about this or keep struggling with this every time I eat.

Pregnant: Insatiable hunger, weak, shaky, racing heart
Wow. This is the first time I have heard of someone dealing with the same things I have been experiencing. I am 35, and 11 weeks pregnant with my first baby. At 7 weeks, I started dealing with insatiable hunger, severe weakness, heart palpitations, and shakiness. I, too, have tried to explain this to doctors, friends, family, and co-workers. No one seems to understand the toll this takes on you. I am eating constantly...lots of protein and complex carbs. No sugar. Very healthy. Nothing works. I am constantly weak and it takes everything in me just to get through a day. Then, I am up several times a night to eat...also waking up shaky with heart palpitations. I have no idea what is wrong, and 3 doctors haven't been able to figure it out. They've tested for hyperthyroidism and hypoglycemia. I have neither. This is so frustrating...and exhausting. I've gained over 10 pounds in 3 weeks because I have to eat so much to be able to just walk across the room. But, I have no choice. I wonder what the problem is...I know I cannot continue this way for the entire pregnancy. I'm sleep-deprived and emotionally drained. If you determine what is causing these issues, please post your conclusion. I'm desperate...

I am 10 weeks pregnant and dealing with the same symptoms. I dont remember the last time I slept through the night without having to get up to eat. SOmetimes I have to get up 3 times during the night! Did this end up getting better for you later in pregnancy? I keep hoping when I hit the 2nd trimester my blood sugar will level out a bit.

Possible answer
I've experienced the same thing and found that taking a sea kelp supplement helps amazingly well. It's not so much low blood sugar as low idodine but not so much that your doctor would actually test for it. ugh! but try raising your iodine levels and see if that helps at all Smile
