Why do I feel my life is boring and no point to it? I watch movies and read books and I always wish my life was like it. I feel as if there is no way I can make it happy. I try not to think about death and how it's better then being alive. I ask some of my friends but all they do is laugh. I am afraid to ask my doctor. Please help I have been this way for a year and I hate it.

Hello and Welcome

I appreciate your concern

Episodes or phases of depression, stress and anxiety can occur in every one. The duration , you described is quite long. You need to get a psychiatric consult for a mini mental state exam to ascertain anxiety or depression. Sleep normalcy should also be assessed. Cognitive behavioral therapy and if needed certain medication can help you a long way.

wishing you best of health
