I feel like a very unlikable person...

User Profile
Please help me. I'm wondering if I am suffering from depression. The past few months I have felt miserable and very lonely..and it has gradually worsened. I get irritated really easily and argue with my family members over small things. I feel upset and emotional all the time and start crying for no apparent reason. I hardly have any energy and have difficulty sleeping. I feel like a failure..I also feel like I can't talk to anyone about how I feel and I have started avoiding my friends because I feel like they don't care about me. I feel like a very unlikable person..and that I'll always be on my own. I just wish my life was different and that I was different. I don't want to feel like this anymore.

Hello and welcome to e health forum.

From the description it seems that you may have a anxiety disorder and or depression probably due to being lonely, which is probably resulting in a low mood. But such conditions cannot be diagnosed and treated online, just based on limited medical history. A complete face to face examination by a professional is necessary.

For the time being, You will need to de-stress and find ways to relax when ever you can. This you can do by various means, like listening to music, spending time with friends and family, learning a new art like music, reading books, being active in sports or at the gym, etc.

Other methods by which you can find relaxation and calm is by meditation and doing breathing exercises.

Regular physical exercise, good nutrition and stress management techniques will give you a basic foundation to build a new positive outlook. Have a positive attitude and develop a confidence in yourself that you have a important place in the world.

You may consult a psychiatrist or a counselor, who can take a complete history and with proper counselling and behavior therapy can help you start enjoying life. If needed prescription of medications can also be helpful.
