Getting Pregnant Answer A28639
Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
Unless there is direct contact of semen or pre-cum with vagina, pregnancy does not result (the chances also depend on her being during her fertile days/ovulation time at the time of sexual contact. Sperms cannot swim through fabrics (unless it is thin and lightly woven and there is presence of ample vaginal wetness). There are no studies to prove it. If you suspected direct contact of pre-cum or semen with vagina at any time during your sexual contact, and if you are not ready for pregnancy, she should have considered taking emergency contraception within 48-72 hours of the unprotected sexual contact to prevent pregnancy (especially if the sexual contact was during her fertile days/ovulation time). Wait and watch for her next periods. She should consider visiting her doctor/gynecologist for further evaluation and assistance if she does not get her periods within 10 days of expected period dates (sometimes there can be variation of 5-10 days in the period dates), or if she develops any new symptoms suggestive of pregnancy. If pregnancy gets ruled out and if you intend to remain sexually active, she should consider getting started on suitable regular birth control measures to be protected (after her periods). She should be regular with birth control use as instructed. Avoid having unprotected sexual contact.
Take care.
