I am scared about my mom, age 70

Type your medical question here

My mom, age 70, has had persistent heartburn in a spot in upper abdomen since 2 years ago. Also, this week- nausea and weight loss of 10 pounds. Doctor just diagnosed her with gastritis 2 years ago and now. Stomach cancer got her uncle. I am scared. Her doctor keeps handing her antacid pills, and I say "GET IMAGING DONE!!!" I am mad that the doctor keeps handing her pills and I get so frickin' worried because my great uncle died of it, my dad died of brain cancer, and my mom had early stage breast cancer already 28 years ago...Help! Thanks so much, L

Thank you for asking!
Losing weight of 10 pounds is significant and history of stomach malignancies in family, i endorse your thought process and the work up should be done. Imaging with endoscopy to see if there is something to worry about.
COnsult an other gastroenterologist and let them help your mother. Lets hope for the best and may it not be any thing else than a simple reflux issue.
Take care
