How long to abstain from sex after Measles

Hi,

I got affected with Measles and it was confirmed by Dr. on Feb 22, 2014. Got completely cured after a weeks time. How many days should I need to wait to have sex with my partner. Is there any specific days time to wait after one got affected by it. Elderly peoples used to say to wait for 2 to 3 months. Is it correct?

Thank you for asking!
No it is not. Measles is simple viral infection no more a trouble since the MMR vaccine for it. it self resolves and just needs symptomatic care and vitamin prophylaxis. It is transmissible from contact for sure but if you are immunised in childhood and vaccinated, it should not be an issue for you.Plus 2 to 3 months is no way justice. maximum is 72 hours of isolation needed after complete treatment and if too cautious then a week tops.Thats it.
Take care
