Early Pregnancy Signs and Symptoms Answer A12949
Hi,
Welcome to the ehealthforum. I am really glad to help you out. The possibility of pregnancy definitely needs to be ruled out. I would suggest you to get her serum HCG levels estimated since this is more specific than urine for pregnancy tests. The HCG (it is a hormone) levels rise only in pregnancy and its presence will confirm the status of her pregnancy.

If pregnancy is ruled out, then other causes of delayed periods need to be looked into. It can happen because of hormonal imbalance, increased stress, eating disorder, increased smoking, alcohol or caffeine use and medical conditions like PCOS, fibroid, polyps and endometriosis.

It is very difficult to comment on the extent of the delay in the periods due to stress. It can vary a lot from individual to individual.
So my suggestion would be to consult a gynaecologist and get serum HCG levels done. Confirmation can be done by an ultrasound uterus. Not only it clears the status of pregnancy but also can help in diagnosing medical conditions causing delayed periods.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
