Hitting myself in the arm/legs

I recently started to hit myself in either the arms or legs. Reason for this is because I still live with my parents (and I hate myself for that) and don't want anyone to notice, it's easy to cover it up with a long sleave shirt.

Now my question, does this leave permanent damage? I hit so hard my fingers start to twitch and my forearms are covered in bruises. Just worried that I might get caught with a serious injury..

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and I understand your concern.
It doesnot cause permanent damage if blow is not severe. This habit is linked with impulse control disorder. CBT sessions are needed to overcome this problem.
I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
