High white blood count and mass on right lung

High white blood count, cat scan showed mass on right lung, swollen lymph nodes, increasing shortness of breath at rest and with activity, tired and feels all worn out. Doctor has ordered a PET scan. Sister died from bone cancer, dad died from cancer as well as brother. Should I be worried?

The findings that you describe could be caused either by infection or by cancer, unfortunately (both conditions, by the way, would cause the PET scan to be positive). Ultimately, you may require a biopsy in order to obtain a specific diagnosis.

Whatever the cause, I hope that you will soon have a diagnosis, and that an effective treatment will be available for you.
