Hernia after varicocelectomy

My husband had a varicocelectomy two weeks ago today. He returned to work yesterday. He has a strenuous job that requires lifting and pushing heavy objects. After work, he noticed his incision sight, which is on the left side of his groin/ pubic area, was swollen. When he awoke this morning, it was slightly less swollen. After work again today, it was very swollen and red. At first I was worried about an infection as the area is very red and hard feeling. After speeking with family members, we think he may have a hernia. He is not running fever and is not in any more pain other than general soreness from the surgery. Is this typical of post-surgery symptoms or could he have a hernia or infection?

Call your doctor on this...This is something that he should know about...He may be doing too much lifting and pushing...Good luck...
