am posting in hopes of help for my 82 year old dad. He has congestive heart failure and has been recently put on dialysis as he was having trouble breathing. He was admitted to the hospital to figure out why he was coughing up blood. Lung doctor said it was heart and heart dr said it was lungs. So sent him home still coughing up blood but now on dialysis. Us non medical family members hoped it would help the coughing, but has not . Please help with any suggestions because if not for the coughing he would be doing really good.

Hello and welcome

I appreciate your concern

Indications for dialysis with congestive cardiac failure can be explained with worsening renal function. A heart with worsening function is not able to maintain the same perfusion to kidneys. The cough can be related to excess fluid and pulmonary edema. You can discuss these possibilities with your doctors who will guide and explain the condition, further.

Wishing you best of health
