Dear Doctor Sir,

I am person of age 31 male, married. I have hearing loss in my Right Ear from my child hood i didn't worry about that. Because my Left Ear is in perfect condition i can hear good in my left ear. But, sometimes when anybody calls me from my right side i might not suddenly response them. Now i worry, due to this my concentration lacks sometimes and i m worried too.

Cause of Un-Hearing in my Right Ear:

When i was in my childhood 5 or 6 years old, i had a severe pain in my ear, the doctor who we have visited checked my ear and told to clean my ear since due to infection and dust particles i may have this severity. So just he syringed water inside my ear, lots of dust particles come out after syringing inside my ear and my ear pain also stopped. But as i was too young i didn't noticed that my right ears hearing is lost due to this, things went wrong when i was i was grown up, that i couldn't hear from my right side. I am afraid that my right eardrum might have damaged i didn't noticed since i was too young that time.

My query is, it possible to recover my right ear to be function again, could ear drum damage is easy to solve, i am afraid because my friend says that if i take medications for my unhearing of right ear my left year could also some times get any problem sometimes. what to do pls advice.

Stanlee.

Since such a long time passed after your ear injury, it might be impossible as your nerve endings might have been damaged, although your ear infection has healed.

You can consult an ear specialist, and he might recommend a coclear implant. Otherwise there is the neurophone.
