I have had a depilating headache for over a month now. My doctor gave me a CT scan on my head that came out normal. I wake up in the middle of the night & in the morning with excruciating pain in the back of my head. She has given me medication for the pain but it only lasts for 4-6 hrs. I take Tylenol like its candy. I've been told that I have arthritis in my neck. Does anybody have any advice. I don't want medication. I want the pain to stop!

Hello and welcome to EHF !

I went through your query and i understand your concern. With history of arthritis and headache i will say that this headache is attributed to the arthritis affecting your neck bone .With normal city scan,i will say that in internal urological causes are less likely. However, common causes of headache like tension type headache or margarine should be considered in differentials . I would suggest some mood stabliziers like valproic acid and low doses of tricyclic anti depressants . Use Tylenol as you are already using . And see if it helps . Arthritis will need treatment as per it,s atiology like rumatode will need immunomodulators or orthoarthritis will need supportive care with pain killers , and calcuim vitamins D supplements . Let your doctor decide what is best for you .

Take care
