Hard mass on sternum / rib

User Profile
I have a hard lump/mass on either my sternum or upper rib on the left side. It is about the size of a grape. It is painful, tender to the touch and sometimes feels like a burning sensation. I have scheduled an appointment with my physician. I was wondering if you have any ideas of what this could be ?
Thank you

Thanks for using this forum...

The lump you are describing should be aspirated with a needle and the material sent for pathological examination;this is called FNAC,a relatively painless procedure.
This could be a lot of things but let positive thoughts come to your mind and rest assured it might be a false alarm...

Take care...

bone on my sternum sticking out
I have been diagnosed with costrocondritis. And now i have the bone on my sternum sticking out it appears. I have had a lot of acid reflex problems in which the emergency room dr. told me to take nexuim. Then I have a lot of problems burping . In the morning there is a burning sensation from my stomach that radiates to my chest as well. This all started when I ate some foods that did not agree with me. I hope that bone is not cancer or my esophagus is not in need of surgery for narrowing. Sad Any input is appreciated.
