Hello Katie,
Welcome to ehealthforum,
The symptoms that you describe (increased tiredness, feeling sick in mornings, tender breasts and nipples, feeling gassy, changes in appetite, metallic taste, brown discharge) could be few of early symptoms suggestive of pregnancy. The effective protection from the birth control pills will be affected, and you can be at risk for pregnancy with unprotected sexual contact/intercourse, if you have messed up your regular birth control pill intake, or have missed taking 2 or more than 2 active pills, or taken them late by more than 2-3 hours on 2 or more than 2 occasions. Wait and watch for your next periods/withdrawal bleeding or observe the current bleeding/periods. Look out for development of any other new symptoms if pregnancy is suspected. If usual periods do not start within 10 days of expected period dates (or within 5-7 days of taking last active pill), or if you get abnormal periods, or if you suspect chances of pregnancy, consider visiting your doctor/gynecologist at the earliest for thorough examination (to confirm pregnancy related changes/signs in body) and blood/serum HCG level test (to confirm/rule out pregnancy accurately). Be in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately. Take adequate rest. Drink plenty of water. Maintain healthy diet. Stop the use of hormonal contraceptive if pregnancy is suspected, or if pregnancy gets confirmed.
Take care.
