Hello and thank you for posting your medical question on E health forum.

FSGS is a lifelong disease, there is no known cause for it, and there is no complete cure.

Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) is a chronic and progressive form of renal disease in which scarring develops on the parts of the kidneys that filter waste out of the blood (the glomeruli). FSGS can be caused by a variety of conditions.

Without treatment, primary FSGS will usually lead to rapid deterioration and early death. It ultimately depends on the rate of progression of the condition.

Treatment currently is based on managing the basic problems in the patients, including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, reducing protienuria, steroids and immunosuppressives to prevent progression, and ultimately managing end stage renal disease with either dialysis or renal transplantation.

You may consider to consult your treating nephrologist for reassurance or further advice and treatment.

I hope this helps.
