My Wife always gets cold and shivers during the night and sometimes in the afternoon even if the weather is extremely hot! what is the reason for that? note that my daughter and I really hate the atmosphere of the room and sleep without blankets. On the other hand, my wife uses Three Blankets to feel warm, two pairs of socks and very heavy clothes. Sometimes she uses a scarf to wrap around her head!!!

Hi,

Welcome to the ehealthforum. I am glad to help you out. She’s suffering from something called cold intolerance. This is commonly seen in hypothyroidism, a condition in which thyroid is not functioning to the optimum. It is tested by getting the thyroid hormone levels assessed. Please consult an endocrinologist for the same. In patients who are suffering from anaemia or depression can also present with similar symptoms. If the thyroid levels are normal, then these possibilities need to be ruled out.

I sincerely hope this information helps. Take care.
