Hi, I am having a bit of a problem with my right eye. About 7 weeks ago I woke up with really red eye, which was painful. The redness was not everywhere but from the inner corner of the eye (next to the nose) to the iris. Looked like angry veins big and small stretching right across. It also feels like there is something in my eye.
I thought it might me because I was studying for the exams at that time. So lots of reading and using computer.

I have gone to the pharmacy and the pharmacist said its an eye infection and gave me antiseptic eye drops. She said if it doesnt help after a week I should see a doctor.
After one week some redness went away and it became more pinkish but the pain and the feeling of foreign object was still there.
I went to the doctor and he told me he cant see anything and gave me anti-allergy drops. I didnt think that i had allergies as only my eye was affected. nevertheless i used the anti-allergy eye drops for one day and they made my eye even worse (more painful) so I threw them out and went to another doctor. This doctor had a look at my eye and said once again she doesnt see anything and thinks it was an infection and i am just feeling the after effects of it which will soon go away. Nevertheless she gave me Chloramphenicol eye drops which i started using, they didnt help.

I went to the third doctor, she had a look at my eye in more detail then the rest but did not see anything. Still she gave me Fucithalmic eye drops which I have been using for nearly three weeks now. These eye drops/cream have helped but the eye flares up now and then and the redness, irritating sand paper-like symptom is there again.

I have made an appointment with an eye specialist but I only will get to see her in 2 weeks. I dont know if I should stop using the Fucithalmic eye drops ( I dont know for how long you are suppose to take them for, it just says take for one more day after symptoms go away).

I thought it might be my make-up as I use mineral powder base and eye shadows but I use expensive make up (MAC) and have use it for ages now. Surely both eyes would have been affected then. (I have not used any make up since the eye infection, I tried to put some yesterday and it made my eye worse). I have tried normal lubricating eye drops and paraffin gels.

Existing conditions - I have retrobulbar nephritis in left eye for 10 years now.
Sorry to write so much but as you can see it has given me a lot of grief and I just want to find a solution to get rid of this so-called eye infection. Thanks.

I would stop all medication until you see the specialist...Hopefully with seeing him/her, you will find out what the problem is...Take care...

Eye infection?
I am only using the Fucithalmic eye drops now, but I think it is a good idea to stop using them now and see what happens. I hope the eye specialist will tell me whats going on. Thanks.

I think it is wise to stop using them...This way she will see you without having used any drops in your eye for a certain period of time...Write down the date you stopped....It may have a bearing on her thinking and her recommendations...Good luck and take care...
