i leaned hard on the outside of my elbow in bed pushing myself up and felt an instant pain in the area.. it’s been a month and it still hurts to lean on it.. feels like a hot poker..
could it be a torn tendon?

Based on your description it appears to be a muscle sprain. Muscle relaxants along with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like etoricoxib can be advised for 10 days. Most likely it will recover. The area needs to be examined and if required imaging investigations (a plain including the elbow joint) can be advised in consultation with your doctor.
