Hi Mam,

I have a daughter of just 7 months and it was a Cesarean . unfortunately i have conceived now and have to avoid it. I have taken scanning and came to now that 5.3 weeks old. Doctor advised me to have 200 mg of mifepristone orally and after two days 1 tablet of 200mcg Misoprostol insertion in Vagina and one more 200mcg after 6 hours.

Hello, Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am really glad to help you out.

Medical termination of pregnancy(MTP) by pills(methotrexate, mesoprostol and mifiprestone) is effective only if pregnancy is less than seven weeks. Anytime past seven weeks requires surgical abortion.

Since you are less than 7 weeks gestation, MTP by pills can be done.

Mifepristone blocks progesterone and causes bleeding of the uterus while misoprostol causes contractions of the uterus resulting in miscarriage. Repeat Ultrasound is done 2 weeks after the tablets are taken to confirm that the abortus is expelled. If bleeding doesn't occur after these medications a suction procedure may be needed in few cases. My advice to you is to take tese pills only after consulting a doctor as they may result in serious side effects like heavy bleeding, vomiting, cramps etc.

I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and regards.
