I have a nickel size patch on the tip on my tongue that is much redder than the rest of my tongue. Its been there about 4-5 months. I was given oral steroids to pyramid. It seemed to lighten and shrink some. Today it looks bigger and more red than ever. It feels weird at the tip.. almost desensitized but not painful. Certain foods can feel uncomfortable to eat. Citrus and spice especially. The rest of my tongue, mouth, teeth, gums, lips and cheeks are fine. Any idea what this could possibly be?

Thank you for asking at Ehealth forum!

I read your question and I understand your concern.
Any red patch on tongue needs biopsy to sort out its nature. I would suggest you to consult oral and maxillofacial surgeon to evaluate it.
I hope it helps. Stay in touch with your healthcare provider for further guidance as our answers are just for education and counselling purposes and cannot be an alternative to actual visit to a doctor.
