Does this sound like another form of anxiety?

User Profile
I've been experiencing severe anxiety and stress the last month...:most likely due to work. When I was younger I'd feel faint and dizzy, the older I've gotten I can experience chest pain, even numbness and disconnection. I am prone to anxiety attacks, and I get very twitchy sometimes, usually when I'm having an attack or coming off of one, or me purposely doing it to "snap" away the negative thoughts (like worrisome thoughts over work or other issues I need to address). Lately I've been experiencing the feeling as thought I can breath, my mouth and throat feel dry. It causes me to panic, yet I can physically tell I can breathe just fine. I have been doing breathing exercises when I get this way too. Does this sound like another form of anxiety? I'm fine when I chew gum, eat, walk....just the slightest issue I feel in my throat sets me into one and it's all I worry about.

From the description of your symptoms, you may be experiencing a panic attack like situation.

Panic attacks, also known as anxiety attacks, are periods of intense fear or apprehension of sudden onset accompanied by symptoms like heart palpitations, dizziness, shortness of breath, or feelings of unreality.

You may experience one or more panic attacks, yet be otherwise perfectly happy and healthy. Or your panic attacks may occur as part of another disorder, such as panic disorder, social phobia, or depression. Regardless of the cause, panic attacks are treatable.

Sleep disorders including sleep apnea also need to be ruled out. A sleep study test can help here.

It would be recommended to consult with your doctor or a psychiatrist for proper counselling for your anxiety. Prescription of proper medications can help you get a proper sleep and reduce your symptoms.
I hope this helps.
