Do I have Depression or Bipolar?

User Profile
I've been on and off of different kinds of depression medication since the age of 17 and all of a sudden stopped taking them due to the way I felt. I recently found a woman doctor and went to her to talk about everything. My moods change very quickly. I become very mad over the littlest things and then fine... Sometimes I stay unpset. I can't be around people and get all panicky. My doctor put me on 60mg of Cymbalta and something for anxiety also blood pressure pills (that I could taking). Thing is at first they felt as if they might be working but now I'm back at square one after being on the meds for four months or so. I'm still very it irritable, have no patients, snap really easy, feel like I have no energy pretty much feel the same before I started taking them! Could I be suffering from the side effects because I'm not being treated for the right thing? I think I may be bipolar and yes it run in the family. I'm nervous about telling my doctor this because she may think I'm crazy. It took everything I had to even tell anyone and get help again. How should I bring it up and when? I am now 29 and can't deal with feeling like this anymore, I need help.

I think you should talk to your doctor about your concerns. Only they can tell you what's wrong, as they know best.
Don't be nervous! I'm sure she won't think you're crazy, she's a doctor, she's there to help, not judge.
