Dizziness, Memory Loss, and Hallucinations. Any Idea?

I've had dizziness for the past few months, the kind that feels like you've hit your head really hard from the back but I have no pain with it, just the dizziness (along occasional balance loss during the few seconds it happens.) that used to happen once a month to now once a day at a random time period.

Recently I have developed memory loss as of maybe the past three weeks, mostly all of my short term and some long term. I have had some times where I have forgotten familiar faces of friends or I don't recognize the spelling of my last name or birth date even.

Around the same time as the memory loss I seemed to have developed a greatly increased amount of hallucinations that happen at random points in time through out the day as well. They aren't specific either, they're just as random.

No medications are being taken, at least not narcotics. I have been on stomach meds for a year so nothing new.

Any ideas??

Welcome to e health forum.

Your symptoms are indicative of possible Benign Positional Vertigo.

Benign positional vertigo (BPV) is the most common cause of vertigo. It causes a sudden sensation of spinning. It can also make you feel like your head is spinning from the inside.

BPV is the result of a disturbance inside your inner ear. Fluid inside tubes in your ear, called semicircular canals, moves when your position changes. The semicircular canals are extremely sensitive.

The symptoms if very severe can be improved with medications like Meclizine and other prescription medications.

BPV is uncomfortable but manageable, and it usually improves with time. But BPV can occur again after successful treatment, and it may return without warning. There’s no cure for BPV.

I hope this helps.
