Distal Fibula Fracture - walking boot to brace

Hi. 6 weeks ago I broke my ankle (distal fibula fracture). I was put in a walking book right away.

Today I went to my doctor expecting to boot the boot out the door. Things are healing properly - but the boot is still around. I was given a brace to wear with shoes - and told to wean myself off the boot. I'll be doing physical therapy as well.

I tried to put on various shoes and nothing will fit. My ankle is still swollen - and I think that is the the majority of the issue.

So - my question is - does anyone have any recommendations to transition from the boot to the brace? I'm just so bummed because I wanted to walk on my treadmill (carefully) and I can't yet. So - just trying to figure out how this will work.

Thanks!

I've been in my brace for about two weeks and nothing fits over it! I can wear sneakers and I found a wide pair of flats. Part of the reason is the plastic plates inside the brace. That makes it a bit wider. Good luck
