My 13 yr old son, dislocated his knee cap when walking. It went right back in. Its been 3 weeks and he is running in track and exercising with no pain. It stopped hurting in under a week as he as able to walk normal without a brace. Is this ok, or is there any reason I need to take him to a physical therapist? He's doing stretches we found online to strengthen the knee.

If he is doing ok and better on his own and has no difficulty in his joint mobility, then he should be able to manage it on his own.

If he needs any help or clarifications, he can consult with his doctor for proper advice.

The same thing happened to my brother and he is completely ok. All we did was when we went for a checkup with the doctor we mentioned it and she did a brief examination on his knee but everything was good.
